Our services
We provide professional publishing support services (such as editing, design, formatting, and distribution assistance) as described on our website and in your written service agreement or statement of work. Specific deliverables, timelines, and fees are defined in that agreement.
No traditional publishing guarantee
We are not a traditional publisher offering advances in the typical trade-publishing sense. We help you self-publish while you retain ownership of your work, subject to your contract with us. We do not guarantee specific sales, rankings, or commercial outcomes.
Rights and royalties
Unless your written agreement states otherwise, you retain ownership of your manuscript and publishing accounts set up in your name. We do not take a royalty share on your book sales; we charge fees for the services you purchase.
Client responsibilities
You agree to provide accurate information, timely feedback, and materials needed to complete your project. Delays in your responses may affect delivery schedules.
Payment
Fees, payment schedules, and any refund or revision policies are set out in your service agreement. Late payments may result in pausing work until the account is current.
Revisions and acceptance
Revision rounds and acceptance criteria are defined in your package or agreement. Additional work outside the agreed scope may incur extra fees.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from or related to our services is limited to the amount you paid us for the specific service giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
Indemnity
You are responsible for the content of your manuscript and for ensuring you have the rights to publish it. You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising from your content or your use of third-party materials without permission.
Independent entity
Barnes and Press is an independent service provider and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Barnes & Noble Booksellers, Inc., Barnes & Noble Press, or any related entity.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction specified in your service agreement, or if none is specified, the laws of the State of Illinois, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date above will change when revisions are posted. Continued use of our site or services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
